16 thoughts that went through my head while we were potty training…

First things first, let’s buy a potty!

Hang on it’s tiny. I thought they were supposed to be one size fits all! Right, that’ll do for Mickey Mouse but better go back and search for a toddler sized one…

Lets get a megapack of antiseptic wipes as well; they’ll last us ages!

Diary cleared for three days – let’s do this!

How have I got so used to someone watching me on the toilet? This used to be the stuff of nightmares!

No pants is the way to go but it’s a bit chilly. Actually that’s a great excuse to stick the heating on with no need to feel guilty!

So, how will I reward him? Not so sure sweets are a good idea, especially when he goes before breakfast…

I know STICKERS! I knew it was worthwhile keeping all his half finished books!

Wow, I am so pleased I have wooden floors everywhere…

Oh dear, we’ve already run out of wipes.

So, the best thing to do is to sit him on it every twenty minutes, let’s set an alarm.

Okay that worked the first three times but I don’t think he’s too happy about being lifted up and down like a yo-yo.

I hope I’m being enthusiastic enough when he sits on the potty on time, all the books say positive reinforcement is key. I’m clapping, smiling, and giving lots of hugs and kisses already but maybe I should add a little song and dance??

I thought I’d experienced cabin fever before but I was wrong…

Wow, it’s true what everyone says about it taking three days for it to sink in, we’re really making progress now!

Hang on, what do we do when we leave the house???

  1. Thanks! We found it so much easier once he wasn’t wearing them so he could just sit down immediately rather than waiting for us to help him pull them down. We’ll have to start getting him used to wearing them again now!
