I can’t believe our Spring wedding was 5 years ago! Although I love looking back at all the pictures it does feel weird that E wasn’t there. Having said that I think it would have been a very different day with him present!
The day before our wedding there was torrential rain but we were so lucky to wake up to blue skies on the day itself. I had actually purchased a shrug to go with my dress and decided not to wear it as it was so warm.
It took me forever to find the perfect dress but when I tried it on for the first time I absolutely loved it. It was ‘trumpet’ style which means that it’s fitted before flaring out mid-thigh. It had one shoulder strap, lots of applique flowers and the fabric was tulle. Flowers often feature heavily in Spring weddings and they were definitely the central feature for ours.
I asked my make-up artist to keep my make-up quite subtle and I was really pleased with the fresh, dewy look that she created for me. This also meant that the only thing I needed to retouch was my lips and I simply added some more lipstick later that evening. My hair was curled and swept to one side and I had a flower shaped diamante clip in the back.
My bouquet was pink peonies and I loved the way the bright colour contrasted with my dress and showed up really clearly in the pictures. My bridesmaid’s dresses were a soft gold and they each held a bouquet of ivory roses.
In the church we had a single ivory and pink rose on each of the pews and then two columns woven with ivory and pink roses either side of where we stood to make our vows. Our florist helpfully moved the columns to our wedding venue so they later stood either side of our top table.
My mum made my four tiered wedding cake which was finished off with ribbon in the colour of the bridesmaid’s dresses and a large ivory flower. Although it looked classic from afar, up close you could see that there were little heart shapes all over it which were created using cookie cutters.
So that’s all about our flower filled Spring wedding, how did you pick your theme for your wedding?
