We were due to set off for our weekend in Tralee first thing on Good Friday. As we were going to be away for Easter we decided that ‘Easter Bunny’ would come 2 days early. Unfortunately, the ‘bunny’ was a bit too enthusiastic about hiding the eggs and I, I mean bunny, 😉 fell flat on her back on the wet concrete! That meant the journey was put back a few hours so we didn’t set off until after lunch.
After making a pit stop for coffee we arrived at The Rose Hotel at about 4pm.
We were all exhausted so after unpacking (I’m a bit OCD about getting everything out the suitcases the minute we arrive anywhere) we headed down for dinner.
I devoured a chicken stir fry, hubby had the humongous fish and chips and E was delighted that they had pizza on the menu. We were both relieved that although it was Good Friday we were able to have a drink with dinner.
The next morning we headed off to Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre. We didn’t bother with the guided tour and instead sauntered around the lake before renting out a pedalo.
It was the first time we’d been on one with E and he was very excited about putting on his life jacket. I wanted to sit next to him in the front and I was still a bit sore after my fall so it was down to hubby to do all the pedalling!
We had great fun issuing directions and although we weren’t really supposed to, we frequently bounced off the tyres on the island and the shoreline and it ended up feeling a bit like dodgems…
We did some shopping in Tralee town centre in the afternoon and I got a few tops from Penneys and I then chose E a few bits from Next at Manor West. We’re already looking forward to our holiday to Portugal in June so I need to start stocking up on Summer clothes!
The next day we set off to the Aqua Dome. I had no idea whether E would enjoy it but we ended up staying 2.5 hours! He loved the wave machine and the lazy river and while hubby tackled the high flume slide I was happy to try out the outdoor falling rapids. I’m normally a bit nervous about water slides but it was good fun and very ‘refreshing’ being in the open air.
There was a kids club on in the evening so E went along for some balloon making while we headed to the bar. We collected him at dinner time and all enjoyed our last meal.
Tralee was brill for kids with lots of activities so close by and E was ecstatic that the hotel even left him a surprise Easter Egg in the room 😊
