When I wrote about E starting pre-school in September last year, I said that I was sure that the year would go by in a blink of an eye; turns out I was right.
While I was initially apprehensive about the new change he settled in super quickly and I’m just hoping that is exactly how it goes when he starts school.
He looked so cute at his pre-school graduation ceremony. First of all they put on a play of ‘Room On The Broom’ and he was given the part of the bird. He was all dressed in blue with blue face paint on and he proudly said his line loudly ‘We three birds, as blue as can be’ – proud mum alert! Fortunately, the blue face paint all came off and he was picture perfect in his red graduation outfit. Of course, I took about 300 photos; including group shots, portraits, selfies with me and finally some with his best buddy.
I’m so relieved that his best friend is going to be in the same class as him. I know he’s going to make lots of new friends but it’s great that he’ll have a little partner in crime, maybe I should re-phrase that or I might be asking for trouble!
We already have his new school bag, drinks bottle and shoes but name tags and a lunch box are still on the shopping list – any recommendations welcome! The school we have chosen doesn’t have a uniform so he’ll be free to wear whatever he likes; I presume his new Falcon costume probably wouldn’t be suitable though 😉
We had a school tour and met his teacher a couple of months ago so it’s great that everything won’t feel too strange. Does anyone else remember their first day of school? I do, I remember walking into the classroom for the first time and heading straight for the dolls house!
I wonder if he’ll even tell me what he does on the day he starts, probably not!
